Customer Insight

Areas for new innovation - Industrial sector
The multi-national client wanted to identify a new area for product innovation in a crowded market. After a customer insight project the client learnt that one of the areas in which they were making heavily R&D investment was perceived as prohibitively expensive and unpopular with many of their clients due to health and safety concerns. As a result they were able to identify a new range of products that would address this previously unknown issue.

Ease of use – Medical
A large phama company was looking to develop a drug delivery system. No-one on the design team suffered from the medical condition. A workshop was designed to simulate some of the conditions that affected patients. The design team were able to take this understanding into the design process and develop concept with ease of use as a prime consideration.

Organisational redesign for innovation

New innovation processes – in a media company
This renowned media company needed to harness and utilise the ideas being generated by its people. New processes were designed to exploit this talent including the capture, assessment and development of ideas and concepts. Training was given on the processes and creativity tools & techniques so that the organisation would own and run the new innovation activities. Innovation become a clearly defined process rather than a hit or miss affair.

Assessing an R&D organisation for innovation – Consumer goods
This R&D organisation wanted to ensure that it was providing the right support and environment for their people to innovate. An assessment was carried out that indicated areas for improvement including making shared areas into more stimulating spaces and introducing processes to facilitate creative sessions. These ‘quick wins’ were implemented while other improvement ideas were prioritised and a change programme was developed
